According to a 2017 Gallup poll, approximately 88 percent of workers in America are usually unhappy at their job. Are you apart of that statistic?
Staying content while you’re at work is no easy task, especially if your job is not rewarding as you’d like for it to be. The team here at Carter Recruiting and Associates knows how difficult the grind of a regular work schedule is like, and that’s why we’d like to give you some tips on how to stay content while you’re on the job!
1) Decorate Your Space
On average, you’re at work for 8 to 10 hours a day. That’s usually more time than you’re in your own bed. If you can make your work space look more like home, you’ll feel more at home! Decorate your space as much as your company allows and get comfortable.
2) Eat Health and Drink Lots of Water
Naturally, a good diet helps keep your energy levels high, thus helps with your motivation. In addition to this, getting a good night’s rest will significantly contribute to your happiness at work. If you’re eating poorly and sleeping 5 to 6 hours a night, you’re going to dread the week days.
3) Be Organized
Set aside some time on a daily basis to create a schedule of tasks that you need to accomplish on a daily basis. If your mind is clear on what you need get done, you are more confident and focused throughout the day.
4) Move Around Regularly
If you work in an office at a desk, it’s critical to keep your blood flowing and your mind content. Moving around on a regular basis and walking will work wonders for your productivity.
5) Reward Yourself For Working Hard
If you have a productive work day, celebrate it! Even if it’s just small things such as going to the movies, getting dinner with some friends, or picking up some dessert, you’re training your mind to enjoy your job even more, because you know you might have something to look forward to when you leave the office.
6) Focus on Some Positive Things About Your Job
At the end of the day, you are responsible for your own mindset. A good daily exercise is to think about some things you enjoy about where you work. Do you love the view from your desk? Are there people at your job that you genuinely enjoy talking to? Whatever it may be, think about it and learn to appreciate it. It’ll help a ton!
7) Invite Your Co-Workers to Lunch
Having an office support system is absolutely critical to being happy at your job. Find some people in the office that you think you may get along with, and take them to lunch. Not only will they appreciate it and confide more in you, but it gives you a chance to bond with someone at the office. If you keep to yourself all the time and don’t socialize, it only makes your job that much more stressful.
