Before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, working from home seemed like a pipe dream for many Americans. Our culture has long been ingrained in notion that we should work in an office space or in a location that we have to commute to.

But according to a study from The Pew Research Center, this has changed dramatically. Before the pandemic, only 20 percent of employees whose work could be done remotely actually worked from home. But now in 2022, that has jumped to over 60 percent.

If you have been heavily considering a shift to the remote life, there are many benefits. Here are 5 of the most common positives.

1. No commute

The days of traffic jams, vehicle breakdowns, tardiness and burning gas go out the window when you work from home. This means saving thousands of dollars every year, and hours of time spent driving to your place of work. Not only that, but you can begin working much quicker, which will give you a boost in production.

2. Day-to-day life is easier to manage

A common issue that many workers have is coming home after a long day on the job is keeping up with household chores such as laundry, cleaning, picking up after children, etc. But if you’re working from home, it’s much easier to take care of these things in between work tasks. In the end, this gives you a lot more time with family as the day winds down.

3. Better schedule flexibility

When you work from home, you can wake up easier and decide when you want to complete your work tasks. You’ll be able to work around your needs and what works best for your peace of mind. This greatly cuts down on stress levels and feeling rushed to get things done.

4. You spend less money away from home

According to a recent Bankrate survey, 57 percent of employees reported that working from home caused them to spend less money. You spend less on commuting, purchasing work clothes, finding childcare, and food. This may vary depending on the WFH job that you do, but in general you’ll find a lot more money in your wallet at the end of every month.

5. You’ll be more cozy

Comfortability will not only make you happier, but a more productive worker. Instead of spending an hour getting ready and putting on suitable work clothes, you can wear pretty much everything you want: sweatpants, gym shorts, pajamas, you name it. Additionally, many people who have chronic joint pain, have troubles with fidgeting, or have back pain from sitting in office chairs will find much more comfort at home working on the couch, bed, or in a workstation that they make for themselves.

There are plenty of more benefits that you’ll obtain in the work-from-home lifestyle. If you want to learn more about WFH life, please take a look at our recruiting agency’s blog page, and let us know why you love working from home!
